FAQ's

I have collected a range of questions my clients were asking themsleves before they engaged me as their coach. Perhaps you can relate to some of them where you are today?

What you may be asking yourself -

  • Am I at a "fork in the road" in my career, business or personal life?
  • I know there are significant changes and opportunities in store for me. I'm just not always sure where they are, or how best to approach them?
  • How can I gain reassurance of whether I'm on track or if fine-tuning is required?
  • How can I raise my game or get on top of it to stay ahead of the rest?
  • How can I find certain blind spots in my attitude, behaviour or personality that may be holding me back, and how can I deal with them?
  • I'm a respected technical specialist wanting to chase a management or leadership role. How can I prepare confidently?
  • I'm already a manager but seem to be "managing" too much and not "leading" enough. How do I make this transition?
  • I've had a great career so far, but am wondering; "Is this all there is? Could there be different or better things in store for me?" Find aptitudes that may be better suited for you, or passions that could be turned into careers
  • I've had my own business for a long time and wonder, "How can I get out of the game, and what's next after this?"
  • How can I maximise the opportunities that lie before me?
  • How do I find new ideas and perspectives on preparing for a transition from employee to contractor or consultant?
  • I'm a consultant, but I think my consultant days are over and I wish to transition back into a full time corporate role... Can I really integrate back into all the office politics after being on my own? How would I master that?
  • I want to start my own business, but don't know where to start?
  • I want to improve my visibility, assertiveness or ability to promote myself while being able to handle politics better. How can I position and promote myself in the political "labyrinth"?
  • I can see the benefits of networking, but how can I become really good at it?
  • I'd like to learn how to handle that difficult boss, peer, subordinate, vendor or customer better?
  • I'm really good at getting things done, but my boss keeps telling me I need to get better at planning. How can I become better at both?
  • I wonder how I could improve on my interpersonal, relationship-building, influencing or persuasion skills?
  • How can I get better groomed in "soft skills" like active listening, building trust & respect, diplomacy networking, negotiation, presentation, rapport and communication skills without years of classroom training?
  • As a manager or leader, how could I enhance my leadership and delegation abilities or develop performance management skills?
  • I'm too busy and too senior for "the classroom" but recognise the need to keep enhancing my skills. How can I do that "one on one" and specifically targeted to just the requirements I need developed?
  • I'm very creative and consistently full of great ideas, but wish that I was equally great at executing them - how can I achieve that?
  • What could I do to improve my goal setting, planning or budgeting skills?

  • How can I get out from under the pump and get some productivity relief with enhanced task and priority management?
  • How can I increase productivity by wasting less time in meetings or by staying on top of that massive email queue?
  • I find my position to be lonely at times. I wish I had a "running mate" or "sounding board" to bounce ideas off so I know they are well thought out and achievable. Who could serve this role?
  • If your boss walked in your office tomorrow and told you, "We have just the right new role for you."... other than your intuition, what criteria would you use to assess whether the new role was indeed right for you?
  • I find this technology so inspiring. How can I convince stakeholders to see the benefits?
  • Wouldn't it be great if I had someone to help me prepare thoroughly for a critical presentation, meeting or negotiation; so that I really shine?

  • How do I know if I'm fully appreciated?
  • Am I using all my talents and skills as best I can?
  • How can I learn to work smarter and have more time for me, instead of feeling like I'm just working harder and harder?
  • Everything seems to depend on me. How can I further develop my subordinates to free up less responsibility on my end?
  • Leadership is supposed to be played in the big picture strategic stuff. Why am I stuck in all this detail?
  • No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to get my people to follow me. How can I get them to respect me?
